Dr. Patrick Dakum Speaks at ViewPointNigeria Webinar Programme, Cautions that Living With COVID-19 will be the Norm for a Few Years

Dr. Patrick Dakum, the CEO of the institute of Human Virology and Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore has cautioned that living with COVID-19 will become part of our daily existence for the foreseeable future.

He stated this on Thursday 16th July 2020 at a weekly webinar series organised by ViewPointNigeria tagged the ViewPointNigeria webinar series. Speaking on the topic “Is Living with COVID-19 the new norm in life”, Dr Dakum provided deep insights into the mechanism of propagation of the virus, the current state-of-the-art of clinical research and Nigeria’s response.

Speaking, he said that the complex nature of propagation of the virus, means that everyone has to accept a certain level of disruption to our way of life and that beating the virus requires concerted effort by every Nigerian citizen. He said “if every Nigerian will agree to wear a mask for the next 3 months, we can break the cycle or infection and re-infection”.
