ViewPointNigeria can authoritatively report that Hon. Jonah Madugu a Federal commissioner at the Federal Character Commission and a PDP chieftain has concluded plans to decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This was confirmed to ViewPoint’s correspondent by a close aide of the Barkin Ladi born politician. He however, pleaded for anonymity because the plan hasn’t been concluded yet. He said, ”The rumour you are hearing about Dr. Madugu’s decamping to APC is true. Plans are going on to formalize everything.” When asked the rationale behind the decamping, he said ”Well, politics is a game of interest and every interest must be embraced to flow with current political realities so that the people can continue to feel the true impact of democracy.”

Who Dr. Jonah Madugu is

Honourable, Dr. Jonah Madugu (Dan Massanin Jos) was born on 1st October, 1994 at Kuzen Garhih District of Barikin Ladi LGA. He started his education with N.A Primary School where he earned his first School Leaving Certificate in 1959. He also attended St. Peter’s College Kaduna from 1961-1962 and 1966-1967 where he obtained Grade iii and Grade ii Teacher’s Certificate respectively.
Dr. Madugu graduated from ATC Zaria and ABU Zaria with NCE and B.Ed Degree in 1971 and June 1976 accordingly. He further bagged an M.Ed in Education Administration and Planning from the University of Jos Plateau state in1980 and a Ph. D. in Education Administration and Planning from thr University of Jos P;ateau State in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Education Administration and Planning of Wales, United Kingdom in May 1984.
For work experience, Dr. Madugu can be described as a seasoned Teacher and Administrator. From the position of a class Teacher in St. Philip Primary School Gana Ropp in1993, he rose to the position of Head of Primaty Education in Plateau State in the Plateau State Ministry of Local Government from 1981-1982. From 1984 – 1987 he was Secretary Plateau State Scholarship Board, Jos and Provost, College of Education Akwanga from 1987 -1992.
Besides being a member of the Constituent Assembly Abuja from 1988 – 1989, Dr. Madugu served in several other capacities such as DG Office of the Deputy Governor of Plateau State 1992 -1993, Hon. Commissioner for Education Plateau State,1994 -96, Minister of State for Agriculture 1998 -99, Chairman Board of Directors Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority Makurdi 2000 -2004. In 2013 he was appointed Chairman Governing Council, College of Education Gindiri, a position he holds till date in addition to his appointment as the Commissioner representing Benue, Plateau and Nassarawa States.
Some of his publication include factors influencing the Location of Post Primary Institutions in Plateau State, M. Ed, 1980, Crisis of Education Management in Nigeria Tertiary Institution, 1993 and The Biography of His Royal Highness Dr. Form Bot, Gbom Gwomg Jos, 1996.
