Don’t politicize Plateau killings, Regeneration Group  tell citizens

Plateau Regeneration Group on Monday condemned the killings of over 100 innocent persons in  some communities in  ,Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South local government areas of the state  and called on the Federal Government , Security operatives to ensure that the culprits of the  act are brought to book .

The group in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos  and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the group Pam Datiri  also advised citizens of the state to desisit  from playing petty politics with the killings in the state.

As a group we demand that those behind this barbaric  killings should be arrested and brought to book ,We  call on all Nigerian security outfits to as a matter of urgency bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice  ”

As a group we know that Gov Simon Lalong as a man who is determined to restore peace ,that is why 

No one was surprised when immediately after his inauguration, the governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong made enthronement of peace the main thrust of his administration.

It is a common knowledge on the Plateau that before the advent of the Governor Simon Lalong-led administration, the state had been dragged behind by protracted crises that had bedevilled previous administrations, with over fourteen years of communal, ethnic and religious crises.

The aftermath of these sustained crises in the state was not just limited to monumental loss of lives and valuable properties belonging to government and citizens, it also sent away investors and tourists who should have contributed to the development of the state. Investors feared that any investment in the state at that time was as good as a waste of time and resources.

We should not be blaming Gov Lalong for this crisis ,because  we know that  the Lalong led administration is working around the clock in collaboration with security operatives to ensure that the prepatrators of this act are brought to book 

 We say  the Rescue administration holds every single live as sacred hence cannot play politics with the lives of the very people that voted it into power.”

The   Lalong led  government is saddened by these attacks,  as a group we wish to reiterate that the  Lalong government is not resting on its oars to find lasting solutions to these attacks. 

The Lalong led administration since on assumption of office has been working tirelessly to ensure that peace is restored to Plateau ,and  will never leave its citizens at the mercy of these attackers no matter the situation because it is his constitutional duty to ensure the safety of lives and well being of the people.”

It is however, disheartening that while the Lalong led administration  is working round the clock to ensure adequate security of lives of the people, some people are bend on scoring very cheap political points and sowing seeds of discord among the peace loving people by attributing the current security challenges especially the recent attacks to what they feel as action or inaction of the government. 

We condemn this killings but we want to say that the   current state of insecurity is not limited to Plateau as being insinuated in some quarters  who despite the relative peace being enjoyed in the state feel that government is not doing anything to arrest the situation.

As a group we recall that only recently a serving Governor reportedly resigned his position as the Chief Security Officer of the state because the security apparatus are not under the control of Governors. This underscores the magnitude of the security problems confronting our nation. 

 We however call on our detractors to join hands with government towards making the state a better place for all.

Pls we all need to work with Gov Simon Lalong so that he would restore lasting peace in the state and ensure that the enemies of the state are arrested and brought to book .

 It could be recalled that as a result of the unfortunate killings ,this forced the state government to impose a dust-to-dawn curfew on the three restive local government areas. This is even as the state Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, who was in Abuja to attend the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Convention was forced to cut short his stay at the convention to return to his troubled state.

Plateau Regeneration Group also commended the state government for their   efforts at returning normalcy by imposing the curfew ,however insist that the security operatives should be on standby to protect Villagers in the rural areas .
