ViewPointNigeria reports on the commencement of initial consultations for the re-building of the derelict Jos main market.

Monday 25th October 2016, saw the developers of the market (i.e., the Transaction Advisory Service of Roughton International London & Cynergy Associates), meet with stakeholders of the market to discuss important issues such as – fire safety, market security and other logistical issues.

Speaking after the parley, country director of Roughton International, Mr. Ike Egbuna said the meeting was to gather feedback, concerns & suggestions about possible opportunities and issues regarding what bottle-necks may impede the smooth operation of the market.

Advising on security measures, Sector 5 Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Col. Uriah Tamunobere Opuene said since traffic in the vicinity of the market will be high, there was need for building a new flyover to alleviate the traffic mess.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Project Implementation Unit, Ezekiel Gomos said up to 70 groups were invited as stakeholders to offer suggestions and advice to the consultants.

It would be recalled that, earlier in the year, ViewPointNigeria reported that the Plateau State government had signed a N230 million Memoranda of Understanding with Roughton International London in collaboration with Cynergy Associates for the first phase of the contract which includes the redevelopment and enhancement of the structures hitherto destroyed by fire in 2002.
