By significant measures, the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has demonstrated that he came prepared to give a focused leadership to citizens of the State. Even when he was distracted by the needless court cases, the Governor didn’t waiver in his purpose of ensuring good governance.

In the period that he has spent in office, Governor Mutfwang has touched the lives of ordinary citizens with his efforts in the distribution of over 200 trucks of fertilizer bags to farmers for increased productivity, acquisition and distribution of 20 tractors to support mechanized farming, direct procurement of grains from farmers to boost value addition, training of youths in modern agricultural practices to ensure sustainable food security, and signing of a landmark agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) for a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone to revolutionize agriculture. The Governor also introduced the subsidized metro buses for intra-city transportation within Jos/Bukuru Metropolis, easing mobility for residents, completed several abandoned projects, reigniting hope in Plateau’s development, restored the train transport within the Jos-Bukuru Metropolis, providing affordable and reliable transport, purchased a drone with a 300km coverage range, strengthening surveillance capabilities for improved security, distributed 100 motorcycles, raincoats, and rain boots to both conventional and non-conventional security outfits, and rehabilitated dilapidated vehicles for security operatives, boosting efficiency.

So far, 600 youths under Operation Rainbow have been trained for intelligence gathering and sharing. Motorcycles and enhanced equipment were provided to them to ensure better surveillance in rural communities. He has paid 90% CONMESS/CONHESS and 75% Hazard Allowance to all healthcare workers, addressing welfare concerns and improving healthcare delivery.

With a vision anchored on progress and inclusivity, Governor Caleb Mutfwang is redefining leadership in Plateau State and these achievements demonstrate his commitment to the welfare of the people and his dedication to building a resilient Plateau as his slogan, the Time is Now suggests the urgency in doing so. Convinced by his leadership strides, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR decorated Governor Caleb Mutfwang as a Patron of the Institute saying the decision was taken in recognition of the Governor’s people-centered policies that have repositioned the state’s image as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”

The NIPR President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ike Neliaku, who led others for the investiture described Governor Mutfwang as a “chief image-maker” of modern Plateau, carefully chosen for this strategic role due to his impactful leadership and commitment to rapid development across the State. Neliaku commended the Governor for his inclusive leadership and dedication to restoring public confidence in governance, saying, “Your Excellency, we have observed those working with you, and it is evident that you are laying the foundation for effective leadership succession, one of the critical challenges in our nation. It takes a visionary leader to do what you are doing. On behalf of the NIPR, we are truly impressed with your achievements. “Not everybody is made a Patron of the NIPR. Public Relations thrives on reputation and perception, and we are deliberate about those we associate with. After assessing your administration’s impact, we confidently confer this patronship upon you.”

In his response to the honour, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the Institute for the recognition, stating that he receives the honour on behalf of the people of Plateau State, stressing, “I sincerely appreciate this recognition, which I accept on behalf of the people of Plateau. They entrusted us with the responsibility to serve, and as you have rightly observed, we are striving to justify their trust. We have set ambitious goals for ourselves, and while we appreciate the progress made, we are not complacent. “Our administration remains dedicated to delivering the highest good for the greatest number of people. This recognition serves as a clarion call to do even more. We are committed to engaging with our people, listening to them, and ensuring that our governance instills hope, that tomorrow can be better than today. That is the essence of our leadership philosophy.”
