The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has tasked Berom People on peace building in order to have a strong and united Plateau

The Minister made this call during the 2018 Nzem Berom Cultural Festival at Rwang Pam Stadium Jos on 11th May, 2018.

Barrister Dalung who was the Chairman of the Nzem Berom 2018 called on all Plateau people to show love to one another in order to achieve sustainable peace and development.

In his opening remarks, Dalung thanked the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba, President, Plateau Joint Traditional Council, for giving him the opportunity to serve as Chairman of Nzem Berom 2018 Cultural Festival and called on all Traditional Rulers to give maximum support to government across all levels. This is only way to achieve maximum peace in various communities across the State.

” The only way to progress as a nation is to be united, demonstrate love to one another, keep away politics of hatred and pursue a common goal for the interest of our generation and generations to come”.

Barrister Dalung called on the Plateau State Government to redouble efforts in addressing security challenges in the state. He advised the government to involve all Traditional rulers in the State in the peace building process as one sure way of achieving a lasting solution to peace challenges in the state.

The Minister who is the arrowhead of the annual Taroh Cultural Carnival drew many cultural similarities between the Taroh and Berom ethnic communties of Plateau State while commending the organisers of Nzem Berom 2018 for reviving the Festival.

“Annual festival celebrations in Africa are part and parcel of the Culture and Traditions of the people. We celebrate the incoming planting season and seek the face of God for a bountiful harvest this year”, he added.

Barrister Dalung also charged Berom people to venture into other businesses flowing from modern agricultural practices so as to earn a meaningful living and discourage the much maligned syndrome of dependence on government prevalent among many communities in the State.
