The Management of Dalo Memorial High School Foron has engaged members of the its host Community and Parents on ways to ensure the safety of the school community ahead of September 18th, 2023 resumption date.
The engagement held on Monday, 11th September, 2023 follows a directive by the Plateau State Ministry of Secondary Education.
Principal of Dalo Memorial High School, Foron, Pastor Pam Andrew Bot said the essence of the forum is to strengthen relationship with the host Community and ensure safety in the institution.
“Our first point of call when there is any challenge is the host Community. This is why we welcome this directive and is committed to strengthen our ties with the community and exploring areas that we can improve to ensure smooth academic activities.”
Pastor Bot said the school which was established and commissioned in 1980 by former Governor of Plateau Plateau state which maintained steady growth in population of students and and academic Excellency. He has called on parents to take advantage of the spiritual and secular knowledge provided by mission schools by enrolling their children in the school.
“Dalo Memorial High School Foron Established in 1980 and Commission by former Governor of Plateau State Somomon Lar on 7 July 1981 is a grand aided school with the support of Gundumar Foron today PCC FORON, Jos, kuru, & ROPP. Our Student population consist of 214 boys and 215 girls. We credit performance pass within the last for years is: 2019 87%, 2020 94%, 2021 84%, 2022 71% and 2023 we believe it will be 95% base on individuals report.”
The Principal applauded efforts by government to reposition education in Plateau and appealed for support to grand aided schools in the state.
“We appreciate the mission of Dara Barnabas Dusu and Dara Datosk for the great passion and desire to hand over the first block of class we pray God will use some of us to do the same In Jesus Name.”
Speaking at the occasion, the Director, Area Directorate of Education, Barkin Ladi, Makopson Philibus who represented the Commissioner, Secondary Education said the forum is initiated to create awareness among host communities of secondary schools to know that they have a responsibility of securing schools within their communities and to also enroll their children.
He added that the initiative is also part of mobilization by the ministry of education to ensure smooth take-off of schools on the 18th of September.
“I I am going round to ensure compliance. I want to comment the management of Dalo Memorial High School Foron for adhering to this directive. The importance of this is to ensure a smooth take off of academic activities.”
Youth leaders of Radura, Foron, Dajal Danladi and that of Larwin in Heipang, Gyang Sambo who spoke unbehalf of members of the host Community promised to give their maximum support for the development of the school.
“We have always worked together with the management of the school. They always assist the Community when there is need. This engagement has further drawn our attention to the commitment to safeguard the school and support its development. We will continue to work together for the growth and development of Dalo Memorial High School.”
A posthumous award was presented to late Da Barnabas Dusu and late Da Datsok for donating the first classroom block for the take-off of the school in 1980.
