The Forum of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), comprising the former State Working Committee (SWC) and Local Government Area Chairmen in Plateau State, has thrown its full weight behind Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye, PhD, for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This development follows the resignation of the party’s former National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting held on Monday, 8th July 2025, the Forum, through a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Rev. Dr. David Joseph Dabit, Secretary, Nanko Binfa, and Public Relations Officer, Alh. Aminu Mohammed, said the decision to endorse the former Governor of Plateau State was informed by his sterling track record and proven leadership credentials.

According to the Forum, “Chief Joshua Dariye is a seasoned administrator who has served Plateau State meritoriously as Governor from 1999 to 2007 and later as Senator representing Plateau Central from 2011 to 2019. He is an academic, a philanthropist, a peace-builder, a grassroots politician, and a man affectionately known as the ‘Head Boy’ for his exceptional leadership style.”

Reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Plateau State and the APC, the Forum described themselves as loyal founding members of the party and called on the Plateau State chapter of the APC to rally behind Senator Dariye.

“With all sense of responsibility, we strongly solicit support for Chief Dariye. As true founding members of the APC, we have no doubt that his emergence as National Chairman will reposition the party for overwhelming success, not only in Plateau State but across the nation ahead of 2027,” the statement read.

The Forum further asserted, “Chief Dariye is a political strategist who understands the terrain and possesses the capacity to deliver victory. We therefore urge the leadership of the APC in Plateau State to do the needful and support this visionary leader.”

Concluding their endorsement, the Forum stated, “We believe that our voice will be heard and that our call is for the greater good of the APC in Plateau State and Nigeria. Indeed, we will never regret having Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye (PhD) as our National Chairman. He has done it before; he will do it even better again.”
