Thousands of residents of Kwande community in Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau state yesterday benefitted from a medical outreach known as medical palliative provided by Tina Bawa Foundation.
The 2-day free medical palliative is a contribution from Rev Mrs Tina Bawa General Overseer of Tina Bawa Ministries International and founder Tina Bawa Foundation.
According to the sponsor of the medical palliative, Tina Bawa, “It was a collaboration between Tina Bawa Foundation and Woman Dare To Dream Foundation.
In an opening remarks during the flagoff ceremony, she said, “The foundation chose to provide the medical outreach because the rural dwellers face much health challenges as well as food challenges.
“We sent out a team to the community to find out what the needs of the people are, and we discovered that most of them need medical attention than food especially with the prevailing economic hardship occasioned by COVID-19.
“So we quickly mobilise our team of doctors, nurses and community health workers to carry out the outreach.
“Conscious of government rules in public activities, we organized members of the community in a group of 50 in a batch and we have more than 10 batches” she said.
The beneficiaries were given free face mask before going through all the medical stages.
The beneficiaries went through measurements of weights, body temperature, body mass, pause before seeing the doctors, after which the patient is given the drugs prescribed by the doctors that examined them.
Some the patients who require laboratory test had their samples taken and with the result, relevant drugs were administered.
The beneficiaries were offered treatment for malaria, high blood pressure, common cold, rheumatism, atrietes, asthma, Pneumonia, eye defect, ulcer, arthritis etc.
The patients were so elated by the gesture, one of them, a 72 old woman, Mama Esther said, “I have been battling with joint pains and have been applying local herds because I can’t afford the drugs often prescribed for me, but today I have been offered the drugs free. I will ever remain grateful to the sponsor.
Many other beneficiaries prayed for the donor.
Tina Bawa Foundation has been organising free medical outreach to the less privileged since 2002 and have done that in displaced people’s camps in FCT, Lagos, Ogun, Benue, Plateau, Ebonyi etc.
In a closing remarks, Rev Bawa said, “my desire to reach out to the poor is a divine call, I got the inspiration from above. God has been the provider of the resources and I’m just a tool in the hands of the Almighty and I’m happy God chose to use me to reach the poor.”
