COVID-19: Rep. Dachung Bagos Seeks Establishment of Testing Centre in Plateau State

As the World continue to battle with the COVID-19, with Nigeria having 210 total confirmed case and 4 deaths so far recorded nationally, the Member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rep. Dachung Bagos has called on the Federal Government through the National Centre of Disease Control to establish more testing centres especially in Plateau State to attend to suspected case more efficiently and swiftly.

Rep. Bagos said though Plateau State is yet to record any confirmed case, it is vital to have a testing centre in the State to attend to influx of persons into the State from State with confirmed cases.

He said the testing centre will help to produce fast result instead of going to other parts of the Country to carry out test for COVID-19.

“It is worrisome that persons who ordinarily should had self-quarantined coming from high risk COVID-19 State are already with other people in the State”
“There is need to place such persons under close watch and examination until they are medically sound and COVID-19 free to be allowed to mingle with other innocent persons, it is extremely risky allowing them just mingle” he said.

While lauding the restrictions deployed by the Federal Government to prevent wide spread of the scourge, Rep. Bagos said the action was long overdue.
He said the FG could had placed travel ban when a case was confirmed to avoid spread.
He said the Country is recording cases lately on account of contact with carriers which could had been avoided long ago. He called for holistic contact tracing in order to get people who may had contracted the He and have not submitted themselves for isolation and testing but spreading to innocent persons.

He urged people to comply with government sit-at-home directive saying it is for their good.
He called on the people to practice social distancing and ensure they adhere to all tips advised by health professional to prevent contact and spread.

He said with over 1 million total confirmed cases and over 60,000 deaths recorded globally, World Leaders and critical stakeholders must take the fight against the COVID-19 serious.
