COVID-19 Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Gets N22.163bn from FG

Utilizes N165m as Reps move to track accrued funds, utilization

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha on Monday disclosed that the sum of N22.163 billion has so far been released by Federal Government.

Mustapha disclosed this during the opening of the investigative hearing on the management and utilization of the funds accrued into the COVID-19 coffer so far including grants and other resources, held at the instance of the House Committee on Public Accounts, chaired by Hon. Wole Oke.

According to the chairman of the Presidential Task Force, out of the amount, the sum of N165 million has so far expended to cater for the welfare of all the Nigerians who were evacuated so far from various countries.

While responding to inquiries on the balance of the fund, Mustapha disclosed that the balance of the money is in the operations account domiciled to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

To this end, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Oke directed the Clerk to send a letter to the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele to send a detailed statement of COVID-19 account to the Committee.

The committee also requested details of the monies paid by the returnees from various countries as well as other resources received from Development Partners.
