COVID-19 Plateau: Hon. Chindo Gona Lauds Fumigation Exercise in Bassa LGA

With the official flag off of the fumigation exercise by the Plateau State Government following the global outbreak of the coronavirus which has killed over 100,000 persons and infected over 1.7 million people globally, the Executive Chairman of Bassa LGA, Plateau State, Hon Chindo Gona Girga has lauded the fumigation exercise.

Hon. Chindo said the exercise will enhance public health and eliminate infectious diseases in the society.

Hon. Chindo made these known when he received the delegation who were in Bassa LGA for fumigation.
He posited that the exercise will reduce rodents, mosquitoes and other carriers of diseases.

The Council Boss lauded the gesture by the State Governor saying it shows his commitment to enhanced public health and safer society. He appreciated the Governor for extending the fumigation to his people.

He called on those who can afford to fumigate their houses to do so and assist those who can’t.

He also appreciated the people of the Local Government Area for fully complying with the lockdown directive and said the Area was able to attain 99% compliance because religious leaders, traditional leaders, elites, youth groups and association leaders were carried along and involved in the awareness campaign and information dissemination on the lockdown.

He commended personnel of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and Neighbourhood Watch for the role they are playing to enforce compliance of the total lockdown in the entire Local Government Area.

He urged the people to ensure all preventive measures and other directives by health professionals and government geared towards curtailing the spread of COVID-19 are adhered to strictly.

In her remark, Dr. Susan Bentu the MD/CEO of Agricultural Services and Training Centre (ASTC) Plateau State said they were in the Area to decontaminate it in line with the State Government directives to fumigate the entire State.
She appreciated the receptive disposition of the Council Boss and commended the people in the locality for complying with the lockdown directives by government which made the exercise successful.

Dr. Susan laud the State Governor for the idea of fumigating the entire State against infectious diseases such as the COVID-19, Lassa Fever, Malaria and other Animal-borne diseases.
