As the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic continue to affect social, economic, religious and political activities, a group of female Health Professionals in various Health Institutions in Plateau State under the auspice Plateau Female Nurses in Politics today extended humanitarian intervention to House of Recap situated at #26 Liberty Dam Road, British-America Junction Jos Plateau State to cater for the welfare of the orphans, less privileged and vulnerable as palliatives to cushion the effect if COVID-19. The event coincided with the Mothers’ Day celebration.
Leading the delegation, the President of the Group, Nrs Florence Ishaku Angashan said the gesture was borne out of their desire to alleviate the hardships being faced by Children at this difficult time.
She said though times are hard, they deemed it fit to provide for the needy in their little way.
Nrs Florence said the group targeted the centre because of the hardship being faced by the Children there and as Mothers, they were touched to reach out and meet some of their physiological needs.
She charged management of the centre to ensure they train the children on the need to observe good personal/respiratory hygiene to avoid exposure to COVID-19 as well as adhere strictly to all preventive measure laid down by health professional to stem COVID-19.
The group also carried out awareness campaign to the organization.
Receiving the items on behalf of the organization, Nrs Sarah Peters appreciated the group for identifying with the orphans, less privileged and vulnerable in the orphanage in the centre.
While commending their humanitarian gesture, she described them as women with good and caring hearts.
She prayed God to reward and replenish them for the kind gesture.
She also called on government, NGOs, other professional bodies and well spirited individuals to emulated the group.
She said the orphanage presently has 156 orphanages, less privileged and vulnerable who are all children.
They were later taken round the facility where they assessed same for possible future intervention where they prayed before departure.
House of recap was established in 2013 and has been assisting children majority of which are internally displaced persons from the northeast of Nigeria. The children are drawn from Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, and Plateau State of Nigeria.
The Orphanage is taking care of orphans, less privileged and the vulnerable spiritually, physically, educationally and morally.
The items donated were bags of rice, beans, maize, garri, clothes and soaps.
