COVID-19 Palliative: Plateau State Govt Says Rumor of Pilfering False, Misleading, Malicious & Mischievous

PRESS RELEASE

It has come to the notice of the Ministry of Women Affairs of a letter written to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong, dated 4th June, 2020 and circulated widely in the Social Media, signed by one High Chief D’yong Mangut, alleging that “rumours are rife that palliatives disbursed to orphanages and others were later pilfered by ranking members of government.” And that, “Specifically, it is alleged that 20 bags out of the 50 kilogrammes of rice donated to Aisha Mana Orphanage was taken away after presentation and away from the prying eyes of those earlier present on the orders of a serving Permanent Secretary.”

Mr Mangut urged the Governor to investigate and punish culprits adequately.

It is in the light of the above therefore that I make the following submission on behalf of the Ministry of Women Affairs.

There has been no time that Aisha Mana Orphanage received rice from the Palliatives Committee in 50 kilogrammes bags.

Therefore I make bold to say the the allegation is false as the writer in his submission said it was rumours and allegation, meaning he himself had not established the fact.

We in the Ministry of Women Affairs do not dwell on rumours. More so, we expected Mr Mangut to have mentioned names instead of dwelling on conjectures and playing to the gallery by being himself gullible.

I therefore use the medium to unequivocally and categorically state without any fear of contradiction that such allegation is not only malicious and mischievous but a figment of the imagination of Mr Mangut and his cronies.

We in the Ministry of Women Affairs are focused and will not join issues with Mr Mangut over this and other primordial issues either now or in the future. Our doors are always opened to the public for clarification on any matter as may affect happenings in the Ministry.
