NASCO group Nigeria, Saturday, doled out edible products and detergents, worth N60m, to Plateau and Lagos State Governments, as well as the Minister of Federal Capital territory Abuja, as palliatives to support the downtrodden in the ongoing lockdown over the dreaded COVID-19.
Executive Chairman NASCO group, Dr. Attia Nasreddin, said at a press briefing held at the company’s premises in Jos, that in addition to the items, a cash donation of N10m has been made to the Federal Government COVID-19 Response Initiative.
He said: “As part of our corporate social responsibility to the unquantifiable work being done by the State and non-state actors in response to the pandemic,NASCO Group Nigeria hereby announces its modest donation of items with combined final retail value of about N60,000,000:00.”
He added that the items made up of action detergents, NASCO cornflakes and biscuits, for distribution to isolation centers in Lagos and Ogun States, stressing that others are children and must vulnerable persons and IDPs.
“These items are been handed over to people in Jos, Lagos and Abuja, and to the Plateau State Government, to the Lagos State Government, and to the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mal. Muhammad Musa Bello, respectively,” he said.
Dr. Nasreddin, said people have a big duty to adhere to all safety measures , by washing off their hands with soap regularly, and obeying government directives and global best practices aimed at stemming and overcoming the COVID-19.
