- Citizens must learn to respect constituted authority and obey their directives – Mrs Ruth Mandyau
In what could best be described as the display of empathy and love to the needy, Wife of the Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGC, Mrs. Ruth Mandyau today donated toilet soap, bar soap, detergents, sanitary pads, shaving sticks, toothpastes, towels, water, juice, bottled and packaged water, biscuits, underwears to inmates of a Quarantine Centre in Plateau State.
The inmates numbering 49 were supplied the items by Mrs. Mandyau who said she want them to be comfortable considering their present predicament.
All the inmates were travelers who came into the State during entry restrictions.
“They were not taken to the Quarantine center from their homes to have taken anything with them .
“As a woman and mother, I understand what women and children in this situation would be passing through,” said Ruth.
The Chairman’s wife advised Plateau indigenes outside to suspend home-coming plans until the pandemic subsides to avoid spreading the virus further.
“Plateau State has no confirmed case yet, and it will be to the benefit of us all to keep it that way,” she said.
The inmates, including 17 children, and nine women have yet to fully adapt to the isolation environment, but are gradually adjusting, said a facility Official, David Dama.
They will be in quarantine for at least seven more days having been detained a week ago in line with NCDC 14 days mandatory directive.
After the quarantine period, those of them who show symptoms will be tested while those who do not will be freed based on official protocol.
Mrs. Mandyau further stressed the need for the people to adhere strictly to all safety, preventive and precautionary measures advised by NCDC, WHO and government at all levels aimed at preventing and containing the spread of the novel coronavirus.
