COVID-19: Jos South PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Emmanuel Dung Addresses the People on Pandemic

HON. EMMANUEL DUNG SOLOMON AKA GIBOK ADDRESSES THE GOOD PEOPLE OF JOS SOUTH L.G.A AND THE PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT

I Hon. Solomon Dung Emmanuel, My entire Family, The Emmanuel Dung Solomon (A.K.A Gibok) Campaign organization team and well-wishers aspire to give our warmest solidarity to all of us during these trying times that we have found ourselves. We are all in this struggle to fight this Novel Corona virus disease and we shall continue to fight it to a standstill.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has thrown our community, local government, Plateau state and the whole country into an unknown territory. We recognize this is a worrisome time and that many in our community have faced both health and economic impacts.

One thing anyone will never desire is to lose a safe place to call home. Unfortunately, there has been misinformation in the media about what the current crisis saying that the corona virus is not real and does not exist.

My hope is to eliminate any confusion and misinformation that may come up in the nearest future.

I want to personally use this medium to say thank you to the Covid 19 task force on the Plateau and its environs set up by the Amiable Executive Governor of Plateau state Rt. Hon Simon Bako Lalong, to the food and water processing manufacturers and workers, our Royal Highnesses in Jos South for giving their full support during this lockdown period, the Nigeria police Plateau State command for their doggedness in ensuring compliance by our communities without any form of brutality, to our Heroes; the doctors , nurses, and healthcare workers for not letting us down in this pandemic period, and all essential duty workers who are on the front lines every day to make sure communities have the food, supplies, medical care, and adequate security that we need to get through the impact of the #Covid19 outbreak on the Plateau.

I would also want to reiterate that staying safe is the best gift that we can give to ourselves; I endear everyone to keep in mind that;

  1. The corona virus does not have legs, but it moves and transmits from person to person- Stay at home if you feel sick and seek medical care
  2. Wash your hand regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water
  3. Maintain a good social distancing method to avoid close contact with those that may have contacted the disease.(prevention is better than cure)
  4. Following Plateau state’s order and out of respect and health for our community I urge anyone going to public places to please wear appropriate face covering such as face masks.
  5. Avoid touching your face nose eyes and mouth as those are vulnerable point the virus may take advantage of and infect from person to person.
  6. Let all of us as members of our community, irrespective of tribe, religion and enthnic differences, come together as a family to respect the authories that have been placed before us and be law abiding citizens.

Finally, it is my sincere hope and desire that in the coming weeks and months the good government of Plateau state will take adequate steps to provide financial assistance and palliatives to mitigate the hardships faced by us as we are all in this together. We value all our people and will support efforts by the government to help support members of our community during this pandemic.

Long live Plateau state, Long live the wonderful people of Jos south LGA, and always keeping in mind our great party. The People’s Democratic party.

Stay safe, stay alive and stay smart!
