COVID-19: Business Expert, Bolcit Lauds Govt’s Proactive Measures, Calls for Post COVID-19 Economic Plans

As the Coronavirus continue to adversely affect economic, social, cultural, religious and political wellbeing of the people with over 2.5 million total cases and over 177,000 deaths globally, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anista Marketing Ltd, Bolcit Patience Barshep has called for sound post economic strategies to address the adverse economic impact of COVID-19 to keep the Plateau State economy afloat after the global pandemic.

She said there is no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic has adversely affected all facets of the economy and human life, but with sound economic policies, the economy will bounce back strong. Ms Bolcit called for sound economic expertise to tackle post-Coronavirus economic impacts.

Bolcit commended Gov. Simon Lalong for the proactive steps taken so far and for personally leading the war against the scourge.

She said Plateau State has the finest brains known in the IT Industry superintending the situation room, a pragmatic Deputy Governor, Prof. Tyoden leading the collection and distribution of palliatives in the State, men of impeccable pedigree leading the security and border control teams.

She said Plateau State is blessed with the best medical personnel who are risking their lives and working round the clock to prevent and contain the dreaded disease.

She commended the Plateau State Government for installing CCTV Cameras at Border Entry Points to help address the influx of people into the State during the lockdown.

Bolcit said what is lacking are technocrats to handle the economic effect of the pandemic when it hits the peak and post COVID-19 effect.

She called for holistic approach to come out strong and the need for “an economic war room”

She said the economic war room will bring together credible and competent economic experts that will brainstorm on how to tackle the adverse impact of the coronavirus pandemic that is already crippling the global economy.

“The objective is to start robust discourse with a view to finding strategies in dealing with the negative economic effects if Covic19 on the State”

“The Plateau Covid-19 economic war room should specifically gather data and investigate the extent of the COVID-19 effect on businesses in plateau State. The economic war room will report to the economic Council for action. This is like the situation room for Covid-19 but with technocrats drawn from the different sectors in the State such as but not limited to the following sectors: Entertainment, tourism, sports, commerce, religious, hospitality etc” she said.

Bolcit commended the people for the appreciable compliance with the lockdown order and urged them to stick to all preventive measures by health experts and government directives targeted at preventing the virus.

She urged government at all levels to provide palliatives to the people and businesses to lessen the adverse impact of the Coronavirus.
