As the World is being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, measures are being deployed globally to cope, prevent and contain the global outbreak of the disease.
As the outbreak continue to affect socio-economic activities and as total lockdown is being observed, with over 1.5 million total confirmed cases and over 95,000 deaths recorded globally, Nigeria now has 288 total cases and 7 deaths recorded nationally, Belle United Social (BUS) Football Club as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility has distributed food items to 21 selected vulnerable widows in Hwolshe Jos South LGA, Plateau State.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, Pharmacist Mizim Dagung Haruna, President of the Association said the gesture was done in empathy to the selected widows to help cushion the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impending lockdown in Plateau State.
Pharm. Mizim said the gesture became imperative owing to the result of the global COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant negative economic impact.
He urged the general public to stay safe, adhere to the preventive measures advised by health professionals and obey government directives with respect to all recommendations aimed at limiting the effect of the coronavirus.
Items distributed to the widows were Rice, Garri and Cartons of Indomie.
