Coronavirus: Plateau PDP Admonish Citizens on Safety and being Cautious, Urges Govt to Disclose Proactive Measures in Place

THE PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY,(PDP) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER. 20/2 YAKUBU GOWON WAY JOS.

PRESS STATEMENT.

March 17th 2020.

CORONA VIRUS AND THE SAFETY OF PLATEAU CITIZENS.

The plateau state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, ( PDP) has observed the augury silence by the state government on this deadly and dreaded global pandemic called coronavirus, which the APC / Governor Lalong can not justify its continues silence. It is on this note that we are calling on Governor Lalong and the APC to value the lives of plateau citizens by taking serious and comprehensive measures to safeguard the innocent people of Plateau State being entrusted on him.

But to our dismay since the outbreak of this deadly virus which has ravaged the world and has been declared a global pandemic by the United nation (WHO)the plateau state government has not made public any statement on measures being taken by the government to provide facilities to avert, test nor handle this Pandemic in case of any outbreak in the state like other concerned states have done.Consequently we are justified to conclude that this resounding silence from Governor Lalong,is a clear evidence of failure in leadership & governance of his state which he instead places more value on the crisis of his party the APC.With this attitude it is clear that the APC as a party does not understand the monumental magnitude of what this virus scourge is all about.

To us as a party, we believe that protecting people’s lives at a time like this is bigger than any party crisis and other project(s) that is if there is any ongoing project in the state.

We therefore call on Governor Lalong to be proactive and publicly announce to plateau citizens measures taken by his government on this pandemic as it is governments responsibility to frequently translate its measures and position on sensitive issues of this nature to it’s citizens for all lives I repeat all lives are at risk.

Signed..

John .T. Akans, ksm FICA, state publicity secretary PDP Plateau state.
