Plateau state commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Solomon Maren has enjoined contractors handling health and education projects to meet up deadlines or face sanctions. The commissioner was speaking at Quan Pan Local Government Council (LGC) while inspecting work at the Government Secondary school Kurgwi. Maren who was dissatisfied with the level of work urged the contractor to speed up or face the consequences while stating that he will be back in two weeks’ time to reappraise the project. The contractor, Tima New Breed Construction was told to ensure the borehole depth is maximised for full utilisation.

The contractor handling the Shendam General Hospital, S Cube Development Agency Limited got commendation from the commissioner when he visited the LGC. Maren was happy with the level of work and urged the contractor to keep up the good work. In Langtang South Local Government Council, the contractor handling the Government Secondary School Mabudi was advised to maintain the quality of work up to the roofing. The situation was however different at the General hospital Mabudi as work was yet to commence and the contractor handling the project was not on site due to irreconcilable differences with the land owners

In Mikang LGC, the contractor handling the computer, laboratory and classroom blocks of Government College Garkawa was commended and advised to handle the project with care and ensure it finishes before the rains commence. Maren promised to revoke the contract for the renovation and construction of new blocks of the General Hospital in Langtang North. He was not happy that the contractor was not on site and stated that he will be back for the revocation. The contractor handling the project at Government Secondary School Langtang told the commissioner that the occupants of the quarters have refused to vacate the premises thereby slowing the pace of work.

The commissioner was impressed with the level of project execution in Pankshin, Kanke, Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Councils while calling on the contractors to attain maximum standard of the contracts.
