Continuing partnership and collaborative engagements at Plateau state specialist hospital, Jos: DMCMA visits.

As Plateau State Specialist Hospital (PSSH), Jos continues to collaborate with development partners both within and without, the Management of Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (DMCMA) paid a courtesy visit on the Management team of the hospital, on Monday 25th March, 2024 at the CMD’s Office. The Executive Secretary of DMCMA, Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot said that the visit was to familiarise with the Management of PSSH and to appreciate them for providing Manpower and Office space for the Agency to efficiently carry out its mandates.

He informed the Management of the hospital that His Excellency, the leader of the Time is Now Administration Barr Caleb Mutfwang understands the key role of partnership and is very much interested in it, which he believes will provide an enabling environment for collaborative engagements and appropriate partnership to thrive. “It is on this note that the Agency is interested in partnering with Plateau State Specialist Hospital as prioritising the hospital will give the Agency the full drive it needs to forge ahead”, he added.

The Executive Secretary assured Plateau State Specialist Hospital that His Excellency, the executive governor has released the counterpart funds to enable the Agency to kick start its activities. He then assured the Management of the hospital that with this partnership, the hospital can go to sleep as they are sure of all Drugs and Medical supplies through the help of the Agency. The Agency is positioned and ready to deliver on the job. He further asserted that a model will be developed to suit the institution for better collaboration.

The Chief Medical Director of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos Prof. Christopher Sabo Yilgwan in a response appreciated the Executive Secretary of DMCMA and his team for the visit and also emphasised the vision of the Agency which is very important because of the logistics associated with Drugs and Medical Supplies. He assured the Agency that the Hospital is eagerly waiting for the commencement of services as the hospital is doing well in ensuring that Drugs supplied to the hospital are paid promptly and DMCMA will not be an exception.

On the issue of Manpower, the CMD believes that with the calibre of staff on board, he has no doubt that the Agency will Succeed because in his words “together we can go far”. He also emphasised on the need for the Agency and the Hospital to look at the model that is to be put in place together so that the user (hospital) can also make inputs too.

The meeting came to a close with group photographs and exchange of pleasantries.
