Company donates N2.5m books to Plateau varsity to boost learning, teaching

Brooks Consolidated Investment Limited (BCIL) has donated assorted books worth N2.5 million to Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos to boost learning and teaching.
Mr Sunday Jesmiel, BCL Managing Director while presenting the books to PLASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yohanna Izam, said that the gesture was part of the company’s effort to uplift the standard of education.
Jesmiel said that BCL has made it part of its corporate social responsibility to provide books to aid teaching and learning.
“Today’s donation of 100 different titles is my company’s token contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
“It is also for the development of our next generation who deserve nothing less than excellent instructions and inspiration through books,” he said.
The managing director appreciated the vice chancellor for his prompt approval for the donation which has said helped the his company to fulfill it’s desire.
According to him, the prompt approval was indication of the VC’s determination to promote the ideals of the University.
He called on well meaning Nigerians and philanthropists to support institutions to institutions of learning as government alone cannot do it.
Prof. Izam who received the books in company of some management staff of the University, thanked BCL for its positive contribution to the development of the institution.
The VC described the gesture as timely as the university awaits the arrival of accreditation team from National Universities Commission (NUC).
He said that acquiring required books was a necessary condition for the accreditation of courses in the university.
“We are in the process of acquiring 10,000 books and 6,000 of them have arrived already.
“We sincerely appreciate your company for the donation and pledge to sustain meaningful interaction with your company,” he pledged.
