Coalition of Plateau Youth Passes Vote of Confidence on Plateau Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dewan

The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Gabfiel has received support from the Coalition of Plateau Youth.
The Group which passed vote of confidence on the Speaker in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Danjuma Jok and Comr. Jonathan Rotgak disclosed that the 2023 general election has smiled on the youth constituency in various political capacities from the state to federal level.

The Youth Group said on the Plateau, it was rare and extraordinary when the youth of Pankshin North took the bull by the horn and against all odds elected Rt. Hon. Gabriel Kudangbe Dewan to legislate their will in the state assembly. They said “the support was very rare considering the political platform he contested under amidst giant and popular political parties; this is why from the prelude we mentioned that this event is an epoch in the political arena of Plateau state.
“As if that is not enough, Rt. Hon. Gabriel has kept to his mandate by making his legislative responsibilities youth – friendly. In engagement in the youth assembly can only be attributed to him alone and compared to no other, as he has the original pragmatic blueprint of how to engage and carry the youth along in the delivery of effective and good governance”
“You would agree with us that our choice of Rt. Hon. Gabriel to represent us was not an error and will not be an effort in futility, because he has proven himself in so many occasions, even the ones that presented itself more difficult from the ordinary.
“For decades now, youth all over the country have been agitating for the ‘Not Too Young To Lead’ via protests, campaigns, symposiums and organized movements; the aim is the see to the reality of their agitations. It was a silent revolution happening without the knowledge of the actors which gradually is taking precedence in elections where the will of the youth prevails: just like Mao Zedong posited “….it is a war without bloodshed”, so the youth of Pankshin North state constituency have put into practice the adage.
“They have diplomatically exhibited that “the ballot is stronger than the bullet” as posited by late President Abraham Lincoln.
“Though we have heard and seen how critics have constantly come hard on Rt. Hon. Gabriel, we would advise that the youth speaker be allowed to concentrate in delivering effective legislation to the his constituents and the people of Plateau especially in this trying moment when unity and peace should abound to help us as a people to face our challenges as they stared us in the face” the youth said.

They went further to state though without discrediting his predecessors; Rt. Hon. Gabriel has performed exceptionally well in the areas of youth and community development. They hinted that just as he promised during his campaigns before the election and his emergence to uplift the youth constituency, he is fulfilling his campaign which they have seen, applauded, and anticipating more in the interest of the youth.

“Rt. Hon. Gabriel is by law the speaker of Plateau State House of assembly and by virtue of his designation and as the third citizen of the state, he should be respected and cooperated with. Seeing his youthful energy channeled towards harnessing the potentials of the youth for their interest and state, is worthy of everyone’s support. His usual ways of addressing issues is centered on his overall belief over respect for humanity; indeed, it was not an error when his colleagues saw the potentials in him and decided to make him speaker. He has ever since been using his office for the betterment and interest of Plateau regardless of political, tribal and religious affiliations.
“No wonder, he was quick to visit the victims of Bokkos attacks and mourn with them over the lives lost. He has proven to being worthy of a youth – leader.
To those criticizing and attacking the youth speaker, we are assuming that you are directly attacking the youth constituency, and we will continue to stand in defense of this mandate which we see as ours and must be guided with all diligence.
As we pray along with the people of Bokkos LG over the recent attack by insurgents, we are calling on the Plateau people to unite against the common enemy and support our leaders at various leadership capacities.
“It is also on the ground that as youth, we are lending our voice in support of our own constituency member by PASSING A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN HIM” the statement concluded.
