Saturday 17th February, 2018 remains an eventful, memorable and joyous day in Ganawuri town as the Aten Youth Movement (AYM), Ganawuri District in Riyom LGA inaugurated its new executive following the National Convention that took place 3rd February, 2018 which saw Cmr. Song Muru emerging as its new National President.
The inauguration was colorful and well attended by businessmen/women, top government officials, politicians within and outside Riyom LGA, technocrats, captains of industries, heads of organizations etc.
The Chairman of the occasion, Rep. Engr. Solomon Bulus Maren congratulated and charged the new officials to be God fearing, desist from retrogressing tendencies, stay away from drugs, take their academics seriously and other forms of vocation or businesses they are engaged in. He urged them to be good ambassadors, progressive and God-fearing. He contributed financially to the incoming officials for successful take-off.
Mr. Chom Bagu, the National Chairman Aten Development Association (ADA) congratuted the new officials and challenged them on value addition, peace advocacy and unite for the common good of the Aten Nation, Riyom LGA, Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole. He told the youth to develop themselves, build integrity and be ready for leadership which they must struggle for. He said he will be happy if the youth decided to bring out one of them to succeed him as Chairman when his tenure elapse.
The Ataa Aten of Ganawuri, His Royal Highness Ataa Yakubu Chaimang in his goodwill message thanked the youth for conducting a peaceful, free, fair and acceptable elections and congratulated them saying the victory is their collective success. He challenge them on how how effective they use their time and how effective they should use the social media for their good not for negative tendencies. He admonished them to be peaceful and united.
The PDP chairmanship candidate for Riyom Local government area after congratulating them challenged them to be purpose-driven and contribute immensely to societal unity, peace, cohesion, growth and development while not allowing themselves to be used by selfish politicians and elites. He also contributed financially to the new officials.
The State Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Engr. Sunday Hyat charged the new officials and other youths on being focused and visionary to lift the association to greater height while supporting the government of the day.
The Management Committee Chairman of Riyom LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Danboyi Jugul told the youth to be purposeful and embrace all irrespective of religious, political and ethnic inclinations.
He said his door is wide open for them to visit and admonished them on peace-building. He donated 10 bags of Fertilizer to the youth to enable them engage in Dry season farming.
The management Committee Secretary of Riyom LGA, Hon. Joshua Mangadi told the youths that as emerging leaders, they must be ready to be selfless and sacrificial to attain their goals.
Mr. Dachung Bagos in his goodwill message congratulated the new officials and entire youth of Aten Nation, charged them on the need to be peaceful and progressive in their engagements. He asked the executives to be accountable transparent and demonstrate probity in their dealing while charging them to be agents of national transformation. He admonished Mr. Song Muru to ensure he doesn’t disappoint the youth and Aten Nation but be focused to attract good things to the youth and society.
The Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr. Lot Ayuba Chaimang called on the youth to be agents of social and cultural revolution and challenge them to invest their time and energies wisely.
The outgoing National President, Barr. Mordecai Alex Chup in his handing over speech said he is extremely happy to witness smooth and peaceful elections and inauguration. He thanked the youth for their supports all through his tenure and charged the new officials to be resilient, display integrity and unite the youth more. He said his prayer is that they will perform beyond the performance of his administration.
The new President, Mr. Song Muru in his speech thanked the youth for believing in them and said they are not the best but God and the youth feel this is the right time for them to be leaders of AYM.
He said they will work towards uniting the people, protect their heritage against external aggression and ensure they promote the cultural heritage of the Aten Nation so as not to go into extinction.
He charged the youth to be ready to be industrious and be useful to themselves and the society at large. He said after a careful research, he notice Ganawuri District is blessed with rivers and has great agricultural potentials and advantages which are untapped. He said the youth must stay away drugs, indolence and engage in dry season farming for socioeconomic development of the area. He said the CBN Branch Controller Jos, Plateau State donated a new water pumping machine to the association as his contribution to aid them in dry season farming to boost their capacities. He concluded that he will ensure that his campaign promise of youth empowerment is achieved.
The APC chairmanship candidate and former management committee Chairman Riyom LGC, Hon. Mafeng Gwalson congratulated the youths for successful election and peaceful inauguration and said the new officials are unique seeing the people who were at the event. He further charged them to remain committed to good virtues and contribute to the growth and development of the society.
The PDP State Chairman, Plateau State Chapter Ataa Hon. Damishi Sango in his speech said he is proud and fulfilled seeing credible youth being ready to serve. He reminded the youth of the enormous energies, talents, gifts and capacities they have which he said are needed for national unity, peace, socioeconomic development and growth. He admonished those eligible to ensure they go for the ongoing voters registration to get registered and participate fully in political activities and governance.
The oath was administered on the new officials by Barr. Ranye Dung.
