Clothe a School Child Initiative Supplies School Wears to Schools in Sabon Gida, Langtang South

It is true that everyday comes with its blessings and challenges, some from people you’ve never expected.

For the people of Sabongida, Langtang South Local government, it was a thing of joy and blessings as less privileged pupils from the three Primary Schools in the community converged in LGEA primary school Sabongida, Lantang North to receive sets of school uniforms(sandals and socks) from the “Clothe a School Child Initiative”; non governmental Organization founded early 2018 by Dr. Cornelius Gofung with the aim of reaching out to the less privileged primary school pupils and the vision of boosting confidence and raising hopes for them to aim high and be men and women the country and world will look up to regardless of their present conditions.

In the light of this, the clothe a school child initiative on behalf of its members and partners had a four man delegation; The CEO and founder Dr Cornelius Gofung, Mr Martin Dasun, Miss Lerit Ngwan and Barr. Ponman Jonathan Rimman (Zinno), to visit the school.

The members were warmly received by the LEA primary school headmaster Mr Nansak Wuyep on behalf of other school heads, the chief of Sabon Gida Chief Bamayi Fakdul Magaji, PTA chairman, and other members of staff.

In a brief meeting with the members of staff in the headmaster’s office Dr Gofung stated that he was also like many of the less privileged pupils around and knew exactly how it feels to be tattered thus in his little contribution to the society he’ll try to help disadvantage pupils as much as he can.

Though not alone, he further explained that the funding of CSCI foundation is done by partners and members that believe in the dream.

Unlike the maiden edition that 50 pupils were beneficiaries, the Sabon Gida schools which is the second edition had 100 pupils benefiting from such gesture with over 2000 deworming tablets for all the school pupils for better growth.

The PTA chairman thanked the CSCI and partners for their efforts and sacrifice, praying God to bless and replenish their pockets.

He further stated delightedly that indeed the school pupils and members of Sabin Gida at large are proud of their sons Dr. Muknaan Nshe CEO Hoomkwap Humanitarian foundation and Barr.Ponman J. Rimman for partnering with the foundation thus the reason for the gesture.

The village head who spoke on behalf of the District head who was unavoidably absent thanked the CSCI partners and members and stressed that it is not easy for people to render help now especially in this difficult economic times. “We are grateful and will forever be grateful to this foundation and our sons for this gesture” he concluded.

The distribution of the uniforms was done at the school assembly ground immediately after the meeting.

The 3 schools were attended to according to the list prepared by the respective schools. At the end of the distribution, the pupils wore their new uniforms and had a snap shot with the CSCI members, members of staff, Local government representatives and parents present. Dr Gofung handed the Deworming tablets to the members of staff to give their pupils and encouraged them to be giving them quarterly within a year.

The Personnel Manager of Langtang South ministry of education thanked the CSCI members and said Langtang south as a whole has never had such gesture by a teaming youth and people of like minds to support school children like the CSCI did. He urged the pupils to be hardworking and resilient with their studies and aspire to be great men and women. He also implored parents to ensure the uniforms were used for the purpose intended.

The CSCI members were taken for a light refreshment alongside members of staff of the respective schools. A Rev, who is one of the staff opened the series with a word of prayer.

Bar Ponman thanked staff for impacting knowledge on the pupils and promised them that more will come from him particularly and other sons of the soil as CSCI had created a path for others to follow. Mr Martin Dasun also urged the staff to be patient with the kids and do more for them because the growth of the next generation depends on the students.

He went ahead to add that teachers cannot be paid enough for transferring knowledge to the younger generation as it is more of a sacrifice and service to humanity.

Dr Gofung in his closing remark stated that the CSCI tailors Mr Martin Dasun and Lerit Ngwan are both graduates but still acquired skills (tailoring) there by helping in the growth of the society, thus he urged staff that as parents they should encourage their children to learn at least a trade during holidays to help themselves and the society at large as entrepreneurship is more sustainable for a family and society as well.

Mr Wuyep who could not hide his joy stated that because of what the CSCI had done to his school and other schools in sabon Gari, he has decided to partner with the CSCI to help in achieving the set goals of the initiative.

The people of Sabongida didn’t see the CSCI gesture as just clothing, but as love for one another and as the way life should be.

The CSCI appreciates its partners; Dr Davwar Pantong CEO SoleUs and Dr Muknaan Nshe, CEO Hoomkwap Humanitarian Foundation and all other members who have contributed in various ways towards the success of the second edition of the program.

The seed planted with love in those pupils will blossom and come back to them sooner or later.
