Plateau police command has reassured citizens of the state that water tight security has been put in place to prevent crime before, during and after the Yuletide season.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Police public relations officer PPRO, ASP Tyopev Terna and made available to newsmen in Jos yesterday. It reads that, the command has re-positioned it’s patrol vehicles in strategic areas with a view to responding promptly to distress calls from members of the public, round the clock, “We wish to re-echo the earlier ban on the use of fire works, bangers, knockouts etc, this is with a view to avoid all forms of distraction in the execution of the security strategy in place.
“The support of the public is highly Solicited to ensure hitch free Christmas and new year’s celebration in this view, parents and guardians are encouraged to advise their children to desist from the use of any form of fireworks before, during and after the yuletide, any person found flouting the ban would be arrested and prosecuted.”
Members of the public are encouraged to board vehicles only certified motor parks designated across the state, persons boarding vehicles at make shift loading joints on the highways are at risk of falling prey to criminal antics. Also members of the public are advised to exercise caution when boarding tricycles, they should note the plate number of the tricycle and avoid riding on tricycles conveying passengers with questionable looks.
The statement further reads that the command further observed with dismay the rate at which criminal minded persons are removing cash and other valuables from vehicles of unsuspecting members of the public on fuel queues, we therefore advise members of the public to be careful with strangers who engage them in any form of conversation while they wait to be served in filling stations across the state, the in
