In its commitment to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in the society, reduce the hardships being faced by them on account of the adverse impact of the dreaded Novel COVID-19 Pandemic and give them sense of belonging in the society, an NGO, Chris-Dashe Empowerment Initiative (CDEI) on Saturday 26th July, 2020 distributed food items as COVID-19 Palliative to Widows from the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State who are residing in Abuja and environs.
Delivering the food items which comprised of Rice, Semovita, Palm Oil and Maggi, the Founder/Executive Director of the Organization, QS Bitrus Naangurum Christopher said he was moved to assist the target persons considering the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic to livelihood.
He said being Fatherless at an early stage of life, he comprehend what the widows who have lost their breadwinners at this critical times because his Mother is a widow and said he is still aware of what she went through after he lost his Dad who was murdered in the village.
He said the NGO was formed in honour of his Late Father, to reach out to those in need particularly Widows, Orphans and the less privileged through empowerment and other skill acquisition programmes for a better society.
He said considering the hard times that has set in on account of COVID-19, he deemed it fit that stomach infrastructure should be considered.
“We are the ones that are glad seeing that we can assist the less privileged”
“There is no need of you having resources, If no one can benefit from it. It makes your resources useless and of no impact to humanity and the society”
“Today, God has remembered you (widows) and he will continue to remember you all through your lifetime” he said.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast, pray and serve God who remains the only source of their joy and unending supplies.
“As Widows, God Almighty is your Husband and we are only vessels He (God) is using to reach out to you”

“If our society will turn around and look at our neighbours who are in dare need and assist where and when necessary, we will be better off and have a great society”
He said the gesture was to compliment the efforts of Local, State and Federal Governments who he said cannot do it all alone.
He urged those present to yield themselves to be used of God to impact those in need positively to make the society a better place. He said people should use any available opportunity to touch lives.
He said the organization has empowered many and worthy of note is a stripper in Lagos who was taken out of the unworthy business and now doing well economically. He said the organisation will continue to identify the needs of the vulnerable and respond to same appropriate.
In her remarks, the representative of the Plateau State Liaison Officer Abuja, Blessing Madaki said the intervention was apt and appreciated considering the plights of the less privileged at this trying moment.
Mr. Kyauta Damulak Plateau State Indigenes Development Association (PSIDA) lauded the gesture of the donor saying it is impressive and the first he is seeing from an indigene who is not a politician but committed to impacting lives.
He urged other well spirited individuals to emulate the gesture in order to reduce poverty in the society.
In her remark, Mrs. Patricia Orukari who represented the National President of National Council for Women Society (NCWS) said the humanitarian intervention is timely and commendable. She said it will go a long way in reducing the hardship being faced by the people.
Chairperson of PSIDA Women Wing, Mrs Damaris Mallo applauded the organisation for the laudable initiative lauded the Executive Director for availing himself to be used of God to touch and transform lives thereby impacting humanity and the society.
One of the beneficiaries appreciated the Organisation for identifying with them in empathy and prayed God to open more doors so they can reach out to more people.
The event which held at Treasure Island Garki Abuja was low key owing to the COVID-19 Protocols.
It had in attendance Mrs. Kyauta Damulak, Pastor Danjuma Danat, Officer Maurice Dajin, Mrs. Mildred Dachi, Hon. Ladi Swarnaan, Mrs. Soemput, Mr Samuel Da’agar, Mrs Yossy Bigun, Maria Yahaya, Mrs. Maryam, management, staff and Ambassadors of the organization.
52 Widows got Half bag of Rice, 10 kg of Semovita, 4 Litres of Palm Oil and 2 Packets of Maggi Each as palliative.
