Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Says RSMs Vital in Achieving His Vision

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya CFR has reminded the Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) of their roles in the actualization of his overall vision of having a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a joint environment.
The Army Chief made the disclosure during the closing Ceremony of the first Regimental Sergeant Majors’ (RSMs) Convention 2023 which held from Monday 1st to Friday 12th May, 2023 at Gowon Hall, Crispan Jos, Plateau State with the theme “the role of RSMs in upholding the tenets of professionalism in the social media era”.


He admonished them to work relentlessly to develop and mentor those behind them for better results which in turn will translate to a more peaceful and safer Nation while checkmating untoward activities and other vices in their units and formations. He said they should be committed to living exemplary lives for emulation by other soldiers behind them. He appreciated them for the work they are doing and urged them not to relent in adding value and upholding the tenets of discipline and professionalism of the Nigerian Army.
He hinted that with the training, he look forward to a reduction in social media violation and the proper use of social media by military personnel in line with extant social media policy and guidelines of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as well as improvement and changes in the various formations and units.

Earlier in his remarks, Chief of Administration (Army), Maj. Gen. Wilson Ali hinted that the convention was timely and depicts the desire of the Chief of Army Staff to promote discipline and professionalism.

He said with the Eight (8) Lectures delivered by carefully selected resource Persons, he is positive that the participants are well informed, equipped, impacted and ready to domesticate the lessons learnt to their various units.
He lauded the Chief of Army Staff for according greater priority to the Welfare of the troops in his administration.
He said the Convention was a huge success as the Participants will leave with new skills that will further enhance efficiency and professionalism in their units.

The Convention climaxed with the presentation of Certificates of participation to participants by the Chief of Army Staff.
