Chief of Army Staff urges military to remain resolute in tackling security challenges

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai on Thursday called on officers and men of the Nigerian Army to remain undaunted and resolute in tackling security challenges in the country while stressing that they must continue to respect the fundamental human rights of the law abiding citizens they are trained to protect.
General Brutai made this known after commissioning about 14 projects executed by the General officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigeria Army, Major General Benjamin Ahanatu at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, in Rukuba near Jos, the Plateau state capital.
“You all most remain focused on our goal to defeat terrorism and insurgency in our country. I urge you to remain loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari by remaining disciplined, focused and responsive to your constitutional role,” he said.
Projects commissioned by the COAS who was represented by the Chief of Logistics in the Nigeria Army, Major General Emmanuel Kabuk, include the renovated complex entrance gate, refurbished vehicles and weapons, rehabilitated water reservoirs, renovated senior non-commission officer’s block, the 3div medical service and hospital and the construction of a new soldiers club among others.
General Buratai said the commanding officer and his staff will have a condusive working environment adding that, “the refurbished vehicles will not only improve the lift capacity of the division but also add value to the conduct of Operation Lafiya Dole by the division.”
he stressed that the welfare of troops and members of their families will continue to receive his highest priority as he remains the Chief of Army Staff adding that, “the renovation and constructions so far done are aimed at improving your living conditions and the well being of the troops and their families.”
