There’s so far a deadly culture that’s going on in my state. A culture of sabotaging one another for personal gain, and sometimes for no gain at all; others are more comfortable to have themselves all wallowing in a ditch of retrogression than to experience the uplift of their brothers and friends. When a friend of ours is nominated for appointment, he/she feels the next set of people to know about the great news after their families are their friends; they shared with us as a good-news, testimony and a request for prayers. And instead of rejoicing and praying with such person, we let loose our guards, we became sleepless over it and we seek for ways to ensure that we condemn such person to a horrifying level before the leader who proposed to appoint him/her.
There’s a constant cry among the youth for being betrayed by the politicians who they’d worked tirelessly for their campaigns, but at the end they’re all dumped out from governance, yet in most cases, they’re not really betrayed by the politicians but by their bosom friends who went to an extent of not only discouraging the politicians from giving their friends chance but also threatened to frustrate the efforts of such politicians if such a friend of theirs is ever given a chance regardless of how qualified he/she is.
The youths are known for constantly reporting each other to a political leader whom they are all loyal to, and by so doing, they reduce themselves to a team of renegades who should always be given peanuts for daily bread than for any consideration in leadership.
I was privilege to attain an intellectual Discourse organized recently by Oluwatosin, he said something very profound which I will never forget, that “this world have enough space for each of us to succeed and there is no need to be in competition or be against one another, as there are many bottles of coke and fanta but there has never been a need for fanta to be filled in a coke bottle. The success of your neighbor or friends does not in any way block your chances of succeeding tomorrow”.
Sabotaging one another for either personal gain or for no gain at all is shameful and it clearly signifies failure of character. No society will ever be in need of saboteur as their leaders; saboteurs don’t build anything, rather they ruin everything.
