The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, officially signed the 2025 budget into law today during a ceremony held at the LGA Secretariat. The budget, which amounts to ₦9,581,178,521.49, is tagged “Budget of Restoration: Rebuilding Jos South Local Government Area.” The event marked a significant milestone as the budget transitioned from a proposal to a legally binding document.
Hon. Dung highlighted the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative arms of the local government, particularly commending the leadership of the 7th legislative assembly under Rt. Hon. Chomoshen David Emmanuel. He praised the legislative body for its dedication and guidance in ensuring the budget was presented to the executive in a timely and efficient manner.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the partnership between the executive and legislative arms would continue to strengthen, ensuring the full implementation of the projects and policies outlined in the budget. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the provisions of the document for the benefit of the people of Jos South.
Hon. Dung also urged the legislative arm to remain vigilant in its oversight functions, as mandated by the constitution. He stressed the need for open communication between the two arms of government, particularly in cases where adjustments or revisions might be necessary during the implementation process. Describing the executive and legislative arms as partners in progress, he reiterated the importance of unity in achieving developmental goals.
During the ceremony, the Chairman extended his gratitude to the Directors for their unwavering support since the inception of his administration. He acknowledged their contributions to the success of his leadership and expressed confidence in their continued commitment to the development of Jos South LGA.
