The Director General of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS), Mr Ita Ekpeyong has been relieved of his service while Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura has been appointed to take over.

Barrister Danladi Kifasi who is the Head of Civil Service of the Federation released a statement stating that President Muhamadu Buhari authorised the change of leadership at the helm of affairs of the service.

The new DSSS boss, Daura was born on August 5, 1953 in Daura, Katsina state. He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1977 – 1980. He joined the DSSS in 1982 and rose through the ranks to become a director.

He was at one time the Deputy Director Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007. He also served as the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.

Daura attended various professional courses both home and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS) Kuru.
