The Mupun Cultural and Development Association (MUCDA) through its National President, Da Alpha John Dakwak has announced the postponement of its annual cultural event tagged Vwang. Vwang is the highest cultural event of the Mupun people observed every year to celebrate their cultural heritage. During the celebrations, the Mupun people from far and near and different works of life gather at the Vwang cultural arena in Lankan to showcase different aspects of their culture to the admiration of their guests.
This year’s event was earlier scheduled for 9th March, 2024 but the National President has on behalf of the National Executive Council, Joint Action Committee, Mupun Joint Traditional Council and indeed, the peace loving sons and daughters of Mupunland both at home and in the diaspora, called off the celebration for this year to resume on further notice going forward into subsequent years.
A statement signed by the publicity secretary of MUCDA, Katlong Simon noted that the decision for postponement as hard as it was became absolutely necessary as Plateau state is in a sober mood over the gruesome murder and attack of innocent citizens in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas. The statement also regretted all inconveniences the postponement causes especially to invited guests and offered prayers for total healing of the land while looking forward to the resumption of the event soon enough in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
