The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammed has resigned his position.

He said he is resigning on grounds of ill-health.

The next most Senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola is expected to be sworn in as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
