As part of the activities of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) Week, the Berom Youths across the State today converged at Old Airport Junction Yakubu Gowon Way Jos, Plateau and staged what they tagged Peace, solidarity and homage walk to the Palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos in Jishe Jos North LGA, Plateau State.
The visibly excited youths who were accompanied by cultural troops danced throughout the walk.
The solidarity walk was led by the leadership of the BYM-A, Arc. Gabriel Sunday which was well attended by stakeholders of the BYM, NUBES and others.
The delegation were warmly received by the Paramount Ruler, the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Joint Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Da (Dr) Jacob Gyang Buba, CON.
At the Palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos Jishe, Arc. Gabriel Sunday the BYM President told the paramount Ruler who was accompanied by “Be Gwom Rwey” (District Heads) that they were in the Palace to pay homage and assure him of the resolve of the youth to give him their unflinching and unquenchable supports.
Arc. Gabriel said the youths are very united and ready to give their best to the progress, growth and development of the Berom Nation, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
He also reiterated the commitment of the youths toward protecting, promoting and projecting the Gbong Gwom Jos who he said has demonstrated uncommon leadership qualities in piloting the affairs of his office for over a decade. The youths said they will not allow any person, persons or group to ridicule the Gbong Gwom Jos anymore.
A highly elated Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CON welcomed the youths and appreciated them for the initiative which he described as timely and historic.
He said he is proud of the youths and happy the traditional Rulers now have shoulders they can lean on.
The Paramount Ruler charged them to be agents of peace, unity and be worthy Ambassadors anywhere they are.
He urged them to discard tendencies that will mar their destinies while admonishing them to embrace godly lifestyles that pleases God.
He commended the Berom Youths for the landmark achievements over the years and urged them to thrive hard towards greatness. He promised to be supportive to them in the good things they will be doing in the future.
BECO President, Da Gyang Dudu said the historic walk has united the youths and urged the youths to concentrate on self development to be useful to themselves and the society.
Hon. Mafeng Gwalson the Management Committee Chairman of Riyom LGC who spoke on behalf of all other Chairman lauded the idea and promised they will always lend their supports to all progressive initiatives of the youths.
He consoled the Berom Nation and Plateau State over the unfortunate demise of 6 promising youths who died in tin mining while trying to fend for their loved ones. He prayed for their souls to rest in peace.
Goodwill messages also came in from Rwas James Nyango, Barr. Gyang Zi, Rwas Chuwang Dalyop former BYM Chairman and Lady Pam who appreciated the Gbong Gwom Jos for the warmth reception and promised the Berom Youths will fight all agents of divisiveness.
They said the youths will continue to showcase their God-given talents and potentials for the common good of humanity and society while stressing to ignore and withdraw supports from selfish and greedy politicians.
Da Rev. Paul Pam made special prayer to the youths. He charged them to remain resilient and serve God wholeheartedly and diligently.
