BEROM YOUTH MOULDERS-ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE
SUNDAY 24TH JUNE 2018
The President Berom Youth Moulders-Asociation Rwas Choji Chuwang Dalyop on behalf of the Berom Youth Moulders Nationa Working Committee is saddened with ongoing ethnic cleansing of Berom land with the recent extermination of Xland, Gidin Akwati, Kakuruk , Gana Ropp villages of Gashish Distirct Barkin Ladi Local Government and Shonong Village of Riyom Dstrict of Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau where over 110 (One Hundred and Ten) natives of these vilages have been confirmed killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen who are austerely bent on conquering the land.
It would be recalld that Villages of Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Governemt Areas have in recen times witness sustained killings by those the Government has always reffered to as “unknown gun-men”,. Between Monday 18th June 2018 and Friday 22nd June 2018 prior to the Saturday 23rd , June 2018 major massacre, the Berom nation has consistently buried an average of 5 (Five ) people daily.
Notably, there has been early warning signals of these ceaseless attacks, usually brought to the notice of the Special Task Force Stationed in the affected communities, unfortunately, they receive these massges with levity, thus seen as accomplices to these despicable acts.
Without mincing words, the STF has neither been proactive nor precautionary in safeguarding precious lives and properties of these villagers, thereby letting them to their aggressors to deal with mercilessly.
It is also note worthy that as at the time of this statement, killings are ongoing in the afore mentioned villages without concerted efforts by the Special Task Force to Halt and we feel there is more to it than just meet the eyes.
Currently , about 110 corpses of men, women and children have been discovered,(against a detestable and fallacious claim by Security Agencies that the death toll is just 11 (Eleven)), over 120 people nursing severe wounds in Vom Christian Hospital, Plateau Hospital, Jos University Teaching Hospital and other health care centers, while over 50 (Fifty) people are yet t be seen.
Consequently, we call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari and Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong to exert the corruption fight vigor in halting these killings and bring perpetrators to book to avoid throwing Plateau into a state of anarchy.
We also call on the international community to swiftly intervain in this degenerating Security situation on the Plateau , which has received less attention of the state and Federal Governments, leading to taking over of over 50 (Fifty) Berom native villages.
