BECO MOURNS THE MURDER OF ROPVIL DALEM AND CONDEMNS WORSENING TERRORIST ATTACKS.
The gruesome and inhuman murder of one of our promising youths, Ropvil Dalem, from Pakshin LGA, by the Boko Haram terrorist group, in far away, Borno state, stands condemnable in all its ramifications.
The accompanying comment of the youthful Terrorist murderer clearly illustrated the level of heartlessness of the murderers, across age groups. It further brings to the fore the fact that Plateau indigenes have been targeted by Boko Haram and its affiliates, for attacks, both at home and outside.
- It will be recalled that the slained Ropvil was abducted, on the 9th January, 2020, alongside our daughter, Miss Lilian Daniel Gyang, from Foron in B/Ladi LGA, both of the University of Maiduguri, on their way to school.
While we intensified prayers for divine intervention, little did we anticipate the latest sad turn of events. With Ropvil now murdered, we can only imagine the fate of Lilian.
- The Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO), hereby condemns in the strongest terms, this heinous and wicked act.
- We pray God to grant Ropvil’s soul eternal rest and comfort his parents and immediate family and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. To Lilian Daniel Gyang, we pray for divine intervention.
- In moments like these the need to appeal to our shared humanity becomes very imperative. This is the time that the Plateau spirit in us must be seen to be working, by rallying round one another in the spirit of togetherness.
Let the gruesome murder of Ropvil mark a watershed in our effort at marshalling our collective will for our common good. We stand with the family of Ropvil, the Mupun nation, Plateau state, frontline Communities of Terror attacks, worldwide and with humanity, against terrorism. May the soul of Ropvil rest in peace.
Chollom Gyang,
Sec. Gen.
