In what could best be described as the hottest and most competitive contest in the history of the Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO) over 5 decades ago, the Berom Nation converged in a National Convention yesterday Saturday 4th May, 2019 at Zang Commercial Secondary School Bukuru Jos South LGA to elect New Leaders.
The National Convention was well attended by Berom across the Districts at home and diaspora to elect new leaders.
The election saw an Ex-Custom Assistant Controller, human rights defender, philanthropist, business Mogul of high repute and the Convener of the group of Professionals, Berom Progressive Minds (BPM), Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop emerging the National President with 1,438 winning his only opponent, Da Francis Jamang, Former President Berom Youth Moulders’ Association and Caretaker Chairman of BECO before his resignation to contest for the Presidency.
The positions were keenly and hotly contested with only the Assistant Secretary General being unopposed.

Announcing the results in the early hours of Sunday, the Presiding Officer of the Election and Chairman of BECO Electoral Committee, Da Pwajok Mang declared the winners and returned them elected having score the votes specified above.
He declared the election free, fair and credible.
He thanked the people for the patience and their cooperation.
In his acceptance speech, the President-Elect, Da Gyang Dudu thanked the Berom Nation for finding him worthy to serve them at this given time and promised to work with his team and the entire people to move the Berom Nation to greater heights.
Da Dudu said the time for transforming the Berom Nation is now and that cannot be compromised.
He said he is ready to work with his opponent for the common good of the people and promised to always pursue the collective interest of the people.
He said the Berom Nation is blessed with great potentials (human and material) which must be utilized for the benefit of the Berom people, Plateau State and the Nation at large.
Da Dudu promised to stand against anything that will be a threat to the heritage of the people and be a voice that would speak at all times.
He promised not to disappoint the trust reposed on him and his team but justify same with optimal and credible performance.
Da Dudu said they will work towards a more united, transformed and prosperous Berom Nation.
Da Dudu posited that youth, women empowerment remain his priority as he has been doing overtime and said he will work with other tribes and nationalities towards the peace, unity and development of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
