Benue State Education Commissioner Praises NACEST’s Commitment to Professional Training and Moral Development

The Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Reverend Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, commended the Acting Rector of the Nigerian Army College of Environmental Sciences and Technology (NACEST), Makurdi, Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa, for his unwavering dedication to promoting professionalism and moral development among students.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the College’s 20th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, held at the institution’s permanent site auditorium, Reverend Dr. Ikyaan praised NACEST for building a strong reputation for producing highly competent and ethically responsible graduates.

The Commissioner lauded the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education in enhancing educational standards and human capital development nationwide. He also revealed that the Benue State Government has recently approved the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering at Benue State University, the University of Agriculture and Technology, and several Technical Colleges across the state. He further stated that the Ministry will explore avenues for collaboration with NACEST to promote shared educational goals.

In his opening remarks, Acting Rector Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa congratulated the newly admitted students and reiterated the College’s strict stance against indiscipline and examination malpractice. He emphasized NACEST’s commitment to the holistic development of students across the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor domains of learning.

Highlighting the role of self-discipline in achieving personal goals and self-actualization, the Rector revealed that all nine courses submitted for accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) received approval. Additionally, eight new Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes have been approved to commence.

He urged the students to adhere to the College’s rules and avoid all forms of social vices throughout their academic journey and beyond.

Brigadier General Inuwa expressed deep gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his consistent support, which contributed significantly to the College’s recent accreditation successes. He also acknowledged the support of his predecessor, now Corps Commander Education, Major General A.P. Oguntola, and appreciated the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Institute of Education, Science, and Technology (NAISET) Ilorin, for his continuous support.

The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including the Ter of Makurdi, His Royal Highness Chief Vincent Aule; Representative of Commander 401 SF Brigade, Colonel F.M.O. Aboiye; Coordinator of JAMB in Benue State, Dr. Titus Isah Lemu; Area Manager of the Industrial Training Fund, Dr. (Mrs.) Sarah Adanyi; the District Head of North Bank Community; and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army, Rt. Hon. David Ogewu, represented by Barrister Ogile John. Academic and non-academic staff of the College and other distinguished guests were also in attendance.

Highlights of the event included the official swearing-in of matriculating students, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs to commemorate the occasion.
