BECO Initiates Permanent Reconciliation between Irigwe and Bache Communities of Bassa.
Today the Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO), commenced a process of dialogue between the Irigwe and Bache Communities of Bassa Local Government.
- It’s recalled that the two neighbouring communities have for sometime now, been engulfed in unfortunate bloody encounters, resulting in avoidable loss of lives and properties.
- At the last meeting of the Plateau Initiative for the Development And Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN), the issue was mentioned, without any sign of foreseeable light at the end of the tunnel. The representatives of the BECO in attendance then requested for the permission of the house to attempt a reconciliation, which the house gladly agreed to.
- The first in the series of consultations kicked off today at the BECO secretariat, with a very impressive delegation from the Bache Cultural Development Association. Tomorrow it will be the turn of officials of the Irigwe Development Association.
After this, all the parties will then sit down to frank and honest talks, which hopefully, will reduce tension, halt hostilities and broker peace.
Chollom Gyang
BECO Secretary General.
