The Beautiful Gate handicapped people Center a non governmental organization based in Jos through the support of Conscience International has assisted 1700 People Living with Disabilities in Plateau State with food items.
According to Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center, Jos, the gesture was made possible through the support of Conscience International as part of efforts towards assisting People Living with Disabilities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and rising cost of food items which is beyond the reach of many especially those Living with Disabilities who are worst hit. He appealed to government, organizations, spirited individuals to come to the aid of People living with Disabilities stating that the intervention by his foundation is just a drop in the ocean as there are many who are still in dire need of support.
Beneficiaries of the intervention were drawn from the four clusters (physically challenged, Albinism, the deaf and the blind) who make up People Living with Disabilities with each of the seventeen (17) local government areas in Plateau State producing 100 beneficiaries.
Prof. Danny McCain who represented Conscience International stated that the organization is a not for profit organization based in the USA. He called on the beneficiaries to pray to God to bless the donor and open doors for them so that they can continue to impact humanity positively.
Mr. Seth Attah, the Plateau State Chairman of the Joint Association of People Living with Disabilities applauded the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center for it’s relentless support to people with special needs. He stated that since the outbreak of the coronavirus, only the foundation has assisted them with food items and called on government to come to their aid.
The distribution of the food items to the beneficiaries held at the Plateau State Disability Right Commission Jos, Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) Vel in Pankshin, and Youths Centre, Shendam.
Cross beneficiaries of the gesture applauded the donors for remembering them, praying for God’s blessings.
It will be recalled that the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center had few months ago assisted 1700 People Living with Disabilities across the seventeen (17) Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
