Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong has been tasked by the Catholic Arch Bishop of Jos Bishop Ignatius Kaigama to be proactive and sustain honest efforts towards tackling the socio-economic challenges on the Plateau .
Bishop Kaigama who led the Senior Priest, Representatives of Women and Children and Laity of the Arch Diocese of Jos metropolitan to pray for Governor Lalong on the first day he resumed duties in his office after he was sworn into power for second tenure as Plateau elected Governor.
A statement signed by Solomon John Gujor Deputy Director, Press and Public Affairs made available to newsmen in Jos on Wednesday reads that Kaigama was in Governor Lalong’s office to pray for him in compliance with scriptural injunctions that they should pray for leaders since all authorities comes from God
The statement reads that “His Lordship cautioned Governor Lalong to guide against divisive factors that breed mistrust, hatred, violence, insecurity, polarization and tension as he strives to deliver on his electoral mandate. “
Responding , Governor Simon Bako Lalong expressed joy and happiness for the prayers to usher in his Second Term in Office which was conducted by His Grace, Arch Bishop Ignatius Kaigama to offer his blessing and prayers upon him for God’s Wisdom and guidance as he resumed duties on the first (1st) day in Office under his second term in Office..
The Governor equally called on the religious leaders and citizens as well to always uphold the Government in prayers at all times for God’s divine guidance as he steers the ship of Plateau State to the next level.
He said they came in compliance with the scriptural injunction that they should pray for leaders, since all authority comes from God. The Arch Bishop further said that as religious leaders, they are called to recognize, respect and obey constituted authorities.
