Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau, B/Ladi Council Boss Says Plight of Displaced Persons His Concern as he Completes Tour of IDP Camps

The Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau today concluded tour of all Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) Camps giving them renewed hope of government readiness and efforts to see that they return to their ancestral homes. He said the humanitarian plights of the displaced persons are his major concern and he will not relent until they are addressed.

Barr. Mandyau said the government is aware of the predicaments of the displaced persons and is not relenting to ensure they return home very soon.
He said the security and welfare of the people remain top priority of the present administration.

He admonished the people to promote peace, love and unity. He said there is no alternative to peace and all hands must be on deck to see that peace is achieved calling on the people to support the peace building efforts of government.

The Chairman said he has listened keenly to the challenges being faced by the people and promised to work toward addressing those within his reach and push for those he cannot to ameliorate the hardships being faced by the people.

The Chairman made these remarks when he visited the internally displaced persons in Rawuru, Dorowa Tsoho, RCC Fan, Mai Idon Tarau and Geosciences in Fan, Barkin Ladi and Jos South LGAs where he said he was there to identify with their situation and know their needs with the aim of providing the necessary humanitarian interventions.
So far he has visited 12 Displaced Persons’ Camps to assess their conditions.

Earlier in their separate remarks, Leaders of the Displaced Persons’ Camps lauded the visit of the Chairman saying it is one of its kind considering that he just resumed office.

They appreciated him for his show of love, empathy and concern, describing the visit as apt, timely and very thoughtful.

They said the situation in the camps is pathetic and listed their challenges to include security, education, shelter, clothing and food.
They said they are eager to go home before the end of the year if government can provide adequate security and rebuild their destroyed houses.
They thanked all those who have been supporting them and their host communities for accommodating them since the ugly incident.

The Chairman was accompanied by top management staff of the Council, Councillors, other Appointees, Elders, Youths, women and well wishers.
