Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen of the media.

With deep gratitude to God Almighty, I appreciate the show of support and love by the good people of Mangu Local Government Area who on the 10th of October, 2018 voted me as the chairman of our Dear Local Government.

We are saddened and dismayed by the partisan attitude of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) who rather than declare the result of the Mangu election choose to declare it inconclusive despite the fact that we won on first ballot.

The announcement by PLASIEC that a rerun election will be conducted tomorrow the 18th of October, 2018 in Kantoma polling unit of Mangu Halle ward and Formulam polling unit of Kerang ward is illegal as the result been bandied by the electoral body is a fraud and not a true reflection of the results duly signed at the unit and ward levels by officials of PLASIEC, security officials present, and agents of the PDP and the APC.

For the records, the votes recorded for the chairmanship election which I won is as follows: PDP 60806, APC 55221, a clear difference of 5585 votes.

The two polling units PLASIEC intends to conduct rerun have a combined voters strength of less than two thousand (2,000) votes which is far below the five thousand, five hundred and eighty five (5585) vote gap I defeated my rival with.

If PLASIEC is indeed an independent body and not an extension of the APC, it ought to declare me the winner of the election and not a rerun based on cooked figures with a predetermined outcome.

As a democrat, I have consulted with my party and supporters. Collectively, we have decided not to participate in the illegal exercise planned by PLASIEC so as not give legitimacy to this travesty of justice.

We congratulate our brother and statesman, Dr. Stephen Hirse who resigned his appointment as commissioner of PLASIEC in protest of the trampling of the will of the people and call on Mr. Fabian Ntung the PLASIEC chairman to tow the path of truth and constitutionality by declaring Ayuba Burki Gufwan as winner of the conclusive chairmanship election of Mangu LGA. Our mandate was freely given by the good people of Mangu LGA and will never be stolen nor denied.

We call on our supporters to shun the rerun of PLASIEC, remain calm and be law abiding.
