Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has told President Muhammadu Buhari to desist from arresting those criticizing his administration.
Fani-Kayode who described the Buhari administration as incompetent also commended those who came out to protest the incessant killing by bandits and other insurgents in some states.
He took to Twitter on Thursday to bare his mind on the recent national developments.
The former Minister also called for the unconditional release of Nastura Sharif, chairman of the board of trustees (BoT) of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), who led a recent protest against insecurity in Katsina State.
FFK wrote: “I commend the courage of the people of Katsina state & the North Western zone of Nigeria for finding the courage to come out & express their disgust & horror at @MBuhari’s refusal & inability to stop the carnage that their people are being subjected to by the terrorists.
“I condemn the arrest of the young man that led the anti-Buhari protests in Katsina & I call for his immediate & unconditional release.”
“President Buhari, pls arrest those that kill your people & not those that criticize & protest against your cruel & incompetent Government.”
As previously reported by that, Bashir Tofa, the opponent of MKO Abiola in the June 12 presidential election had also called for Sharif’s release.
It is understood that Sharif was arrested by the police over the protest by his group on the streets of Katsina on Tuesday, over the rising insecurity in the north.
