The African Youth Union Commission (AYUC) Nigeria will soon have a functional chapter of the organization in Plateau State. In a statement made available in Jos today Sunday March 25, 2018 by the Plateau State Liaison Officer of the continental youth body, Amb. Velshik Kirme Philip indicated that arrangements are on going towards holding the 1st Plateau State General Assembly that will bring together all interested and eligible youths on the Plateau to join hands in driving the vision and objectives of the organization in the State. According to him, AYUC is a continental youth organization with its Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with chapters across all countries in Africa whilst the Nigerian chapter of the organization is located in Abuja FCT with State chapters across many States of the federation. Plateau State is among the few States yet to establish a State Chapter. He further stated that a strategic meeting of all stakeholders of AYUC was held recently where a number of far reaching resolutions were made notable among which were the dissolution of all strata of AYUC in Nigeria from the National Headquarters down to States and Local Government Chapters, appointment of Acting Country Representative for Nigeria as well as State Liaison Officers to coordinate activities of the organization at the National and State levels pending the constitution of duly elected executives to fill all vacant offices of which election time table has since been released by the Country Office.
The statement reads in part:

“As for the Youth Union Commission, what was once a dream, has not only become a reality, but rather, it is that AYUC has remained committed in stepping down and domesticating innovative solutions that will empower young people in Africa and all Africans in the diaspora,
“As the authoritative voice of young Africans everywhere, AYUC is saddled with the responsibility of formulating policies and realistic alternatives towards inspiring young people in their various communities and organizational settings, to participate and engage in policies that affect their lives today and in the future directly,
“The AYUC believes in the URGENCY of the NOW.”
