AfDB: Adewunmi Adesina Cleared Of Corruption Charges

Akinwunmi Adesina the president of the Africa Development Bank has been cleared of corruption allegations by an independent panel of experts.

According to a report from AFP The panel which was made up of Gambia’s Chief Justice Hasan Jallow, World Bank’s Vice president Leonard Mccarthy and Mary Robinson who was the head of the panel cleared Adesina who had been under investigation since early last year for poor leadership, personal enrichment, and favoritism.

The panel’s report on Monday said,

“The Panel concurs with the Committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the President and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee,”

Adesina who is the candidate for the bank’s August’s presidential elections, has been called up countlessly to answers questions bothering around the allegations made against him and he had always maintained that he was innocent of all charges.

The panel stated that it did not investigate the charges owing to the fact that it wasn’t it’s duty to but the result of the investigation informed the clearance of Adesina.
