About eight persons were killed in the last two days in two villages of the Local Government Area. The media officer of the Special Task Force (STF) maintaining peace in Plateau, Captain Salisu Mustapha confirmed the killings and stated that four of the attackers have been arrested and are helping with investigations.

In a related development, seven persons were killed while numerous others injured when an attack was launched in Tsamiya village of Wase LGA. The village was attacked in the wee hours of Wednesday by gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons. Villagers were openly shot at leading to seven deaths and destruction of houses and properties. The series of attacks are coming despite peace initiatives by security agents, Local Government Council, Community and Religious leaders.

The Ngwang Isihi Otarok an umbrella Association of the Taroh people issued a statement on Wednesday confirming the attack on the village. Secretary of the Association, Mr Nanlir Napbut stated that the villagers were able to repel the attack after the damages were done and blamed the security operatives who later arrived and opened fire indiscriminately on the villagers for escalating the situation and leading to more deaths.

He said “These series of attacks on the Taroh Nation is nothing less than terrorism. We are calling on the international community to come to the aid of the Taroh man in Wase LGA”,
