Group Carpets APC Groups, Says Governor Mutfwang is Restoring Plateau’s Lost Glory

…Accuses Opposition of Desperate Misinformation Campaign

A civil society group under the banner of Plateau Citizens of Good Conscience has taken a swipe at factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, accusing them of peddling falsehoods aimed at discrediting the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

Addressing a press conference in Jos, the state capital, the group’s spokesperson, Mr. David Obadiah, said they were compelled to respond to what they described as an “alarming wave of misinformation” allegedly sponsored by desperate elements in the opposition.

“We do so in defense of the remarkable progress being made under the transformational leadership of our People’s Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang,” Obadiah stated. “His governance over the last two years has been defined by resilience, purposeful development, and people-centred policies.”

The group pointed fingers at factions disguising themselves as advocacy groups—specifically naming the Plateau APC Vanguard led by Maikor Markus Galadima and a fictitious Plateau State PDP Frontiers headed by one Lumumba Dauda—as sources of false narratives meant to distort the achievements of the Mutfwang administration.

“These individuals, with no verifiable ties to the PDP, are pawns in a desperate smear campaign orchestrated by a drowning APC,” Obadiah declared. “Their recent outbursts are evidence of political panic and irrelevance. They are stranded in the wilderness of opposition politics while the PDP government moves Plateau forward.”

He dismissed as “laughable” recent claims by APC groups that Governor Mutfwang attempted to join their party, calling the assertion baseless and “a new low in political desperation.”

“How can two years of transformative leadership under Mutfwang be lesser than eight years of stagnation under the APC? Only in APC arithmetic can two be greater than eight,” he quipped.

Mutfwang’s PDP Loyalty Unshaken

The group reaffirmed that Governor Mutfwang remains a committed and loyal member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and has never courted the APC at any time.

“It is laughable that a party whose legacy is debt, darkness, and disappointment wants to associate itself with a performing governor,” Obadiah said. “Governor Mutfwang has never considered joining the same party that left Plateau in disrepair.”

He contrasted the leadership styles of Governor Mutfwang and his predecessor, Simon Lalong, accusing the former APC-led administration of having no vision or direction.

“In 2017, Plateau had already lost confidence in governance. Governor Lalong was more preoccupied with ingratiating himself with the Buhari administration than addressing local needs,” he said.

Sectoral Achievements Highlighted

The group outlined key achievements recorded under Governor Mutfwang’s administration, including:

Security:
Mutfwang has revived Operation Rainbow, recruited security personnel, and built access roads for rapid response. A surveillance-equipped activity center has been established and frameworks are in place for the return of displaced persons.

Infrastructure:
Over 111km of urban roads have been rehabilitated, and construction of over 3,000km of roads has commenced. The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) is developing 380km of rural roads.

Transport & Agriculture:
The Tin City Metro has revolutionized urban transport, offering subsidized, efficient mobility. In agriculture, the state launched tractor hiring schemes, youth empowerment in agribusiness, and equitable fertilizer distribution.

Civil Service Reform:
Salaries, pensions, and arrears have been cleared. Promotions are now timely, and electricity has been restored to public institutions long neglected under the previous administration.

Healthcare:
The Plateau Specialist Hospital has been upgraded. Over 9,000 vulnerable residents now access free healthcare, and more than 82 primary health centres are being renovated across all 17 LGAs. A new drug warehouse ensures access to quality medications.

Education:
Tuition fees for Plateau indigenes have been slashed by 50%. Scholarships have increased by 300%, and over 148 classroom blocks have been built or renovated.

Water & Sanitation:
Potable water access has improved statewide. Boreholes and water schemes are ongoing, and a N30 billion dam construction contract in Langtang North aims to permanently address water scarcity in the Southern Zone.

APC’s “Rejection” Is a Cover for Envy

Responding to claims that the Plateau APC rejected Mutfwang, the group said such narratives only betray the opposition’s envy and frustration.

“It is ironic that they claim to reject him while secretly wishing he was theirs,” Obadiah stated. “They once printed his picture alongside APC governors during the Edo Governorship election just to appear credible. That alone exposes their hypocrisy.”

The group concluded by urging Plateau citizens to remain vigilant, focused, and undistracted by what they termed “desperate propaganda from failed politicians.”

“Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is not just leading; he is restoring hope, rebuilding institutions, and reigniting Plateau’s glory,” Obadiah affirmed. “Plateau is rising steadily, boldly, and irreversibly. No falsehood can halt this momentum.”
